Summer Camp 2022

We had a great time at summer camp this January! We had three fun-filled weeks of camp. Our team of 15 teachers, volunteers, counselors, and coordinators provided 54 campers with memories of a lifetime. 24 kids came on scholarship.

This was our biggest summer camp yet! It was amazing to be able to provide meaningful outdoor experiences to a wide variety of children.

A big thank you to everyone who made a donation and gave new experiences to the local kids from the Sacred Valley!

Each week of summer camp we have a variety of different classes that we conduct at our home-base. Our amazing staff of experienced teachers offer five different classes each week. Some of the favorites this year were mini-chef, Andean culture and identity, outdoor living skills, ecology, theater, and yoga.

Every Thursday and Friday we went on excursions to learn outdoors together and practice community service. This year, we planted trees and painted a mural in the town of Urquillos, hiked through the Incan terraces of Yucay, visited a conservation project and hummingbird sanctuary, rock climbed outdoors in Pachar, and camped overnight in Huchuy Qosqo, a famous Incan archeological site.

We have big goals for this year. Now that summer camp has finished, we are ready to focus on our pop ups and community activities. We are excited to continue working in Urubamba, while also traveling out to Socma and Pitumarca to offer special programs in more remote areas. Additionally, we decided to postpone Eco-Leaders this February, and instead we will offer it as a weekend retreat program for teenagers. There are many more ideas and plans in store. Stay tuned for how Valley Camp will continue to grow in 2022!
